Johnson joyous with Grobler

Pretoria - SuperSport United coach Cavin Johnson has praised striker Bradley Grobler for his role in their 3-1 Premiership victory over Kaizer Chiefs in Atteridgeville last weekend.

Trailing by a goal at half-time, United scored two goals in five minutes, including a Grobler penalty, for their third league victory in as many games.

"I've always known Bradley to be a very good professional, someone who I think has got one of the best techniques in the Premiership, as far as goal-scoring is concerned," Johnson said this week.

"He's been waiting patiently, he's been doing very well at training and he came out against Chiefs and didn't have the ball a lot.

"But where he was running, and the way he was moving, he made the wingers play a lot better."

Having struggled at Ajax Cape Town last season, the 25-year-old joined Matsatsantsa midway through the previous Premiership campaign, on loan from the Urban Warriors.

Johnson believed Grobler had plenty to offer the team, highlighting the player's work ethic as a major contributing factor.

"Mame (Niang) brings a whole different game when you play him," Johnson said.

"Bradley brings a different type of game and that's why we opted for Bradley against Chiefs.

"For that reason, he's been watching at training, he's been learning... hopefully he'll be able to stay in the team for a lot longer than just one game."

Currently at the summit of the league standings with nine points, United lead their nearest rivals, Chiefs, by two, and next face newly-promoted Mpumalanga Black Aces on September 15.
