Cape Town Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola has revealed that he's targeting some silverware with the Urban Warriors in the new campaign.
The Finnish goalminder believes Ajax's performances in the Absa Premiership and Nedbank Cup last season have led to raised expectations, and he is optimistic that they will pick up some silverware in the upcoming campaign.
Roger De Sa's men put an end to their struggles of the past three seasons and finished fifth to qualify for the MTN-8 spectacle.
Their great run in the Nedbank Cup also saw them qualify for the continental CAF Confederation Cup.
"Individually, I would like to be a bit more consistent and improve my game," Jaakkola told Football411.com.
"I've been nominated for the goalkeeper of the season for the past two seasons that I've been here and hopefully, third time will be lucky.
"And as a team, obviously we have a lot to prove because we raised a lot of expectations by doing what we did last season.
"There's a lot to achieve and we would love to win trophies.
"We did well last campaign and we are optimistic that we can bring one trophy to Cape Town.
The 28-year-old also believes that the Urban Warriors can go a step further and improve on last season's league position.
"We would also like to improve our last season's log position," He added
"And hopefully that's the way to go. I am quite optimistic and confident in my teammates also."
Ajax are already two weeks into preseason and are expected to compete in the inaugural Cape Town Cup to be hosted by the City of Cape Town at the Cape Town Stadium from the 24th to the 26th of this month where they will take on SuperSport United and guest sides Crystal Palace from England and SC Sporting of Portugal.
