Injuries cut Mayambela's Euro-trip short

Cape Town - Mark Mayambela has told Sport24 that his time playing in Europe was cut short due to injury problems despite being loved by the fans of Swedish side, Djurgardens.

Although South African fans may not have seen any of his performances abroad, ‘Professor’ made a great start to his career in the Swedish League (Allsvenskan) where he was almost always sure to be in the starting XI.

“Overall it was a great stay, I have learnt a lot and I made a mark while I was there for the little time I spent with them, and I'm always grateful to them for the opportunity,” he said.

“I think my injury killed my momentum, and when I came back the players that were in my position did well, but what I like was every time when I got a chance I did well, and I’m sure they are still chanting my name.”

The ‘Dribbling Wizard’ will be remembered for a fine solo goal where he flew down the wing, cut in, then scored from a tight angle and he believes that he will provide more moments of brilliance for new club, Chippa United.

“Well, I have the capabilities to score such goals and more, it’s just a matter of opportunity."
