Igesund's rep denies SuperSport job

Cape Town - Gordon Igesund's representative, Mike Makaab, has denied reports that the former Bafana Bafana coach has agreed terms to take over as SuperSport United boss.

After intense speculation regarding the future of Cavin Johnson as coach of SuperSport United, the club confirmed his departure on Friday.

SuperSport's Chief Executive Officer, Stan Matthews, confirmed that the parties had "mutually agreed" to part ways with immediate effect.

Prosport International CEO, Mike Makaab released the following statement on Friday:

“I am particularly disappointed with reports in the media about Gordon Igesund having agreed personal terms with Supersport United FC. This is not true. I am Gordon’s representative (and have been for the past decade) and no formal approach has been made by any official of Supersport United. There are certain procedures that are followed in matters of this nature and I will be at the forefront of any interest in Gordon’s services.

“The way that this has been reported in the media is disrespectful to Cavin Johnson, who is a professional person and deserves respect. I would like to add that Gordon Igesund has a contract with SAFA which ends on Sunday and only early next week will I meet with my client to discuss his future. The Supersport United position is a prestigious one and if we are approached by the club, then I would obviously discuss it with my client.

“As with any of our clients, we will keep the media and the public updated through the correct channels once there is something concrete to announce.”
