Igesund wary of 'fit' Pirates

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund says that he expects an entertaining game when they host Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers go into the game having beaten CS Sfaxien 2-0 in the CAF Confederations Cup, while on the other hand SuperSport come into the tie brushing off a 3-1 defeat to Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 quarter-finals.

Igesund said his opponents have players who have match fitness more than anyone in the league at the moment because they have been playing non-stop since last season.

"This will be an entertaining game,” Igesund told Sport24

"Pirates are fit. They have been playing for almost the whole year non-stop and to match them we have to up our game.

"We have to start the season on a good note by winning this game, but it won't come on a silver platter.

"We have to fight for the win playing against such a good team like Pirates.

"We are looking forward to a good game from both teams."

Kick-off is at 19:30.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
