Igesund talks up SSU strike force

Cape Town - Gordon Igesund spoke to Sport24 ahead of his side’s game against Crystal Palace on Friday in the Cape Town Cup and he believes that he has a strike force that can make a big impression.

“I’ve really got a good strike force in my opinion, we are always gonna score goals,” said Igesund.

“(Jeremy) Brockie has shown everybody what he can do, I’ve got Kingston Nkhatha who is on form again, I’ve got (Dove) Wome who doing fantastic at training, I’ve got Bradley Grobler who is doing well and I have signed the youngster Bhengu.

“So you know I am going to play with two strikers and what is good in this situation is that the players know that they have got to perform to really fight each other for a place in that team.

“The camaraderie is very good, they all support each other, when Brockie scores Kingston will go and say well done and when Kingston scores the other two will go and tell him we are behind you.

“I think this is very important because it is gonna be a long season for us, we are going to pick up injuries and suspensions.

“I am going to have a headache because all of them are really good players,” he concluded.

Igesund will have two games over the weekend in which he will have the chance to test out which striking combination works best.

The SuperSport-Palace game kicks-off at 17:45 on Friday afternoon and the last round of games start on Sunday at 13:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
