Igesund hands Australian a trial

Cape Town - Gordon Igesund has revealed to Sport24 that Cameron Watson, an Australian midfielder, is currently on trial at SuperSport United.

Igesund has already signed three Australasian players at SuperSport United this year and Watson will be the fourth if he is able to impress the four-time PSL-winning coach.

When asked if there was indeed another Australasian player coming in, Igesund revealed that the 28-year-old player from Adelaide United is currently training with his squad.

“Watson from Australia – I’m having a look at him,” Igesund said.

The former Bafana coach insisted that he would have to be highly impressed by Watson’s performances in training in order to sign him.

“I have got to make sure, these foreign players have got to be really top, top quality and they have got to be what I am looking for.

“(Jeremy) Brockie has signed of course, (Isaka) Cernak has signed and so has (Michael) Boxall.

“Watson I am looking at, he will be here for a week and then I will make a decision.

“He’s a holding midfield player from Australia,” said Igesund.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
