Cape Town - SuperSport United will be out to continue their proud record of finishing in the top eight, something they will secure by beating Polokwane City in their final Absa Premiership game of the season at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Matsatsantsa head into the encounter in seventh spot in the league standings and will book a spot in the MTN8 next term with victory in Limpopo.
For Polokwane City a fourth defeat from their last five matches in midweek, away to Platinum Stars, leaves them requiring a miracle to book a top half of the table finish as they sit on a -17 goal difference.
Rise and Shine midfielder Sipho Jembula admits he and his teammates are disappointed that they let a top eight finish slip, but insists this season has still been a success as they managed to remain clear of the relegation zone having just escaped the drop last season.
"It is the last game of the season and we are eager to close it on a high note, SuperSport will also be coming here for the win so it will be up to who is the best team on the day," said Jembula.
"We are happy with our season. If you can remember last season we played in the relegation play-offs so it's nice to have stayed clear of relegation, I feel we have improved this season.
"Having said that we are sad that we let our top eight place slip, we were a bit unlucky."
SuperSport United suffered their second defeat in three games going down 2-1 to Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
Gordon Igesund is confident his side can add to the 20 points they have managed away from home this term with a positive result in Polokwane.
"It is in our hands, we have to go to Polokwane and get a result that we need to get. The two teams below us have to win their games, which will not be easy," said Igesund.
"Our record on the road has been very good, away from home we have been performing so we will go there in confident mood.
"It's been a long season, but the guys have responded well. I think we have scored in every single game we have played and I'm really happy about that."
In head-to-head stats, Polokwane and SuperSport have met in three league matches since 2013/14.
United have claimed one win, while the other two matches have ended in draws.
Polokwane’s only previous home league match against SuperSport was a 1-1 draw in the first half of last season.
When the teams met earlier this season, goals from Grobler and Ndou saw the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
