Igesund: 'Downs are title favourites

Cape Town - Ahead of the Tshwane derby on Saturday, SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund has declared that rivals Mamelodi Sundowns seem clear title favourites for the Premiership.

The two Pretoria clubs face off at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals, and ahead of the fixture Igesund admitted Matsatsantsa are improving as a team but they will have to try and outscore the Brazilians.

"We are getting better and better. We will be a difficult team to beat," he said.

"In my opinion, Sundowns are favourites to win the League.

"Our attitude is if Downs score three, we will try to score four. The understanding between the players is much better compared to the beginning of the season."

The 59-year old added that United shouldn't be ruled out this early either: "In reality we are nine points off the top of the Absa Premiership. It's only three games."

Kick-off is at 20:00 on Saturday, November 7.
