Hunt keeping mum on Chabangu

Cape Town - Lerato Chabangu is currently on trial at Bidvest Wits as he searches for a new challenge but coach, Gavin Hunt, refuses to reveal whether he will be signed or not.

Chabangu was part of Moroka Swallows who have been relegated to the NFD but made it clear that he would be looking for a new PSL club for the upcoming season.

A move to Wits looks likely as he would reunite with Hunt after previously working together at Superport in a league-winning season but the Wits coach was not giving anything away in a chat to Sport24.

“No, he’s alright but we’re just looking at him,” Hunt said when asked about Chabangu’s performances in training.

“He’s the same, still got it.”

Jonas Mkude, a 22-year-old Tanzanian midfielder, is also on trial at Bidvest Wits but Hunt was similarly reluctant to reveal whether or not he has impressed enough in the first few days of training to be signed.

“We’re also just looking at him.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
