Johannesburg - Gavin Hunt led his SuperSport side to a third consecutive championship, then laid into them for not winning the PSL in style.
Matsatsantsa suffered a 2-1 defeat to BidVest Wits on Wednesday night, but Mamelodi Sundowns' shock loss to Jomo Cosmos, meant Hunt's men picked up a hat-trick of league titles.
The United mentor looked anything but in a celebratory mood, as his charges once again failed to usher in their glory with a victory.
Speaking to Football365.co.za, Hunt said: "It is disappointing because we have lost a match three years in succession on the day that we have clinched the title. I would prefer to be on the winning side as we celebrate winning the title, that's the only disappointing thing about tonight.
"But we have been there. We deserve to win it because we were consistent throughout the season and remember that we lost some good players. It was difficult losing the likes of Elias Pelembe, but you know what everyone here worked very hard for the past three years and we all deserve this credit."
In the post-match press conference, Hunt did admit he was pleased with the way his side performed throughout the season,
"But all in all, it is what you do over 30 games, and we don't have many technically-gifted players, we have sold them - but we have players that give heart, keep their shape and work on our pattern of play," added the coach.
"We had a few players missing again tonight, but like I said, all in all - it is what you do over thirty games."
Hunt refused to take credit for the feat of three straight titles, which was only been achieved by the Brazilians before Wednesday night.
"Congratulations to the players, they deserve the credit. They stick by me day in and day out and for all the hours of training - we've got more points now than we did in the last two campaigns so that is important for me, it shows a sign of improvement," concluded Hunt.
