Hunt: Title is Downs' to lose

Johannesburg - Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes Mamelodi Sundowns are the clear favourites to win the PSL this season, but only due to the fact Kaizer Chiefs' attentions are divided.

According to the Football411 website, the quest for Premiership glory is currently a two-horse race, with Mamelodi Sundowns leading the way with a six-point buffer over Kaizer Chiefs, although the Soweto giants have two games in hand.

However, with Amakhosi still to contest the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Wits, Hunt believes the advantage lies solely with Sundowns.

Hunt also believes if his Wits side topple Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semis, it could spell the beginning of the end for the Glamour Boys title aspirations this term.

He added: "I know the consequences for Chiefs are huge, if they lose to us (in the Nedbank Cup) I think it is going to be a tough ask in the league race for them.

"So they have to try and beat us and that opens up the game a lot. We will try to concentrate on what to do. They are a good side, certainly a lot better than we are. So we will see."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
