'Hond' to pen a new contract at Chiefs

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker has agreed in principal to pen a new deal at the club, according to reports.

Affectionately known as ‘Hond’ the forward’s agent, Mike Makaab, reveals that all representitives involved are currently negotiating a deal for the 29-year-old.

“We are in negotiations with Kaizer Chiefs at the moment, and everything has been agreed on principle,” said Makaab as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“It's now just a matter of sitting down and finalising the minor details of the contract.”

Parker’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and Amakhosi are now scrambling to avoid a repeat of what happened at the end of last season.

Itumeleng Khune, Tefu Mashamaite and Mandla Masango were all in the last year of their contract and Amakhosi were brushed aside to wait the entire campaign to have contract negotiations which led to all the player’s contract expiring.

However, Khune returned to the club with the latter opting to test their skills abroad. Mashamaite signed for BK Hacken in Sweden and Masango inked a three-year deal with FC Randers.
