Johannesburg - Golden Arrows striker and PSL leading goalscorer Richard Henyekane says he won’t put himself under unnecessary pressure in the last two games of the season.
Henyekane (17 goals) overtook Ajax Cape Town marksman Mabhudi Khenyeza, who was leading with 16 goals, by netting a brace in the 3-1 win over Santos at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.
With games against SuperSport United on Wednesday and Bay United on the weekend, both Henyekane and Khenyeza have a chance of increasing their tally as Ajax also have two matches left to complete current campaign.
The Cape side host Orlando Pirates on Wednesday and wrap up the season with an away clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Henyekane says: “I don’t want to set myself a target of goals because that would put me under pressure.I have always maintained a cool head and never spoke of a Bafana Bafana call-up.
“I am just taking each game as it comes. The coach has said it would be nice for the team should the top scorer award come to Arrows given our efforts this campaign.”
On the SuperSport clash, Henyekane says: “That’s wafa wafa as you are aware they want to stretch the lead at the top and we have make sure that we collect points to ensure we finish in the top eight. It will be tough, but we will fight to the end.”
Henyekane adds that his agent Ryan Hartslief has hinted that he could leave for an overseas trial during off-season.
“My agent is handling everything. For now I can’t say much because my focus is on helping the team finish in the top eight.”
