Hartog signs new Maritzburg deal

Cape Town - Ashley Hartog has signed a two-year contract extension with Maritzburg United, according to reports.

Hartog's initial contract expired on June 30, hinting that the midfielder might exit from the Team of Choice.

The Cape Town-born midfielder joined Maritzburg from SuperSport United in the 2013/14 season, and was made captain of the club last year.

The 32-year-old has been a good performer for the club, however has had his fair share of injury problems over the past two seasons, and will hope to have put that behind him.

Hartog is yet to score a goal for the Pietermaritzburg outfit, despite having been a regular scorer at SuperSport.

A source at the club told Sport24 that the management want to keep the experienced players at the team and that's why they renewed Hartog's contract.

"Ashley's contract has been extended by another two years ," the  source said.

"He has been done very well since he joined the team and the management and the technical team are happy with him, hence the decision to renewal of his contract."
