Hartog: Barker is a brilliant coach

Cape Town - Maritzburg United veteran Ashley Hartog has applauded new coach Clive Barker after he guided the Premiership outfit to their maiden win of the season.

United were too strong for struggling Jomo Cosmos as they clinched a 2-1 victory in the first round of the Telkom Knockout on Friday night.

Having got the monkey of their back, the 33-year-old midfielder hopes the Team of Choice can redeem themselves in the league with a solid run of positive results.

"Barker is a brilliant coach, he's giving everybody the confidence. He makes them believe they are brilliant players so I think it's all that we needed here, and the senior players are supporting him," Hartog said as quoted by Football411.

"I just hope that this will take us into the league as well, and take us to the next step.

"The league is most important for us now to concentrate on and get some points."
