Johannesburg - Siyabulela Songwiqi admits he's had sleepless nights - not because he is concerned about anything but because of all the adrenalin that accompanied his maiden goal for Kaizer Chiefs.
The midfielder, whose nickname is Kalusha, scored Amakhosi's second in a 2-0 win over champions SuperSport this weekend, a nifty, side-footed finish that excited him so much it affected his sleeping patterns.
"I could not sleep on Sunday night," Songwiqi told his club's official website.
"I mean just playing for this club is a big thing and to score was something special for me."
Although the former Bay United star was delighted with the personal achievement, he says what matters most is the overall result for Chiefs.
He also revealed how Vladimir Vermezovic motivated him before he went on the bag his first-ever goal for the Soweto giants.
"I was even more happy that we won the game as a team and now we are on second spot in the league," explained Songwiqi.
"The coach said to me, 'Kalusha today you going to (be) a hero', I took those words as a motivation. I am glad that I was able to contribute to the success of the team."
