Go to Holland, Rivaldo: Fans

Cape Town - Sport24 readers are adamant that Rivaldo Coetzee should further his career abroad following an impressive 2014 season.

National team coach Shakes Mashaba catapulted the teenager into the spotlight when he named Coetzee in his AFCON 2015 qualifiers squad.

Coetzee made his debut against Congo and in the process became the youngest ever player to represent the national team.

Coetzee has taken to the pressure of international football like a duck to water, with former Bafana Bafana skipper Aaron Mokoena predicting that the Ajax Cape Town defender could captain the national team in the future.

The talented youngster also earned a nomination in the "Rookie of the Year" category at the SA Sports Awards.

“From what I have seen, he seems to be a reliable defender. He has a calm, steady approach and he will improve on this as he plays more matches," said ex-Bafana Bafana defender Mark Fish after Coetzee's first few games for the national team.

Following his meteoric rise, transfer speculation began linking Coetzee with a number of high-profile moves. (Read that story here.)

Sport24 then asked it's readers: "Where should Rivaldo Coetzee play his soccer next season?"

37% (987 votes) of fans who voted want Rivaldo Coetzee to take the opportunity to move abroad if Ajax Amsterdam's reported interest in the player is interested with the almost 1 000 strong contingent choosing "Ajax Amsterdam! Time for him to spread his wings!

If a move to the Netherlands does not pan out, then local fans want Coetzee to move to the Naturena. 31% (844 votes) fans want Stuart Baxter to oversee Coetzee's development when they cast their vote in favour of the "Kaizer Chiefs! To be the best, you must play with the best!" option.

Orlando Pirates would be Coetzee's next preferred destination, gathering 15% (373 votes) of the votes cast, followed by staying in Cape Town with Ajax Cape Town, which managed to attract just 13% or 368 of the votes.

Playing for defending PSL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, is the fans last option with a meager 4% (107 vote) of the fans believing that "Sundowns! Pitso will work his magic on Rivaldo!" is the best option.

Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town will not be able to call on Coetzee's services for their PSL fixture against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday night.

Coetzee came off in the first-half of the goalless draw against Maritzburg United after suffering from a groin injury.
