Cape Town - Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba says they have to be ruthless in their approach when they take on Free State Stars in a PSL clash in Bloemfontein on Wednesday night.
Pirates are currently third on the PSL log, trailing leaders Kaizer Chiefs by seven points, although Bucs do have game in hand.
And Gcaba, a former Stars player who has been playing in the absence of Siyabonga Sangweni, urged his team-mates to be more aggressive at the Charles Mopeli Stadium (19:30 kick-off).
“We need points so we cannot be too nice…” he told Pirates' official website. “If we fail to win more matches we will definitely compromise our title aspirations, so we have to go for broke and fight harder.
“What is good for us is that we are not losing games - we are drawing so, this means we need to push a little harder to get a win because the group is working hard,” he insisted.
Pirates were held to a 2-2 draw by Ajax Cape Town last week.
Meanwhile, midfielder Oupa Manyisa is in a race against time for the match after suffering a groin injury against Ajax.
Team physiotherapist Shiraaz Josephs said: “Yes, we have to see how it goes from Monday - he (Manyisa) feels okay and we will keep treating him hoping that he gets better before Wednesday.”
