Gaxa to train with Chiefs

Johannesburg - SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns right back, Siboniso Gaxa, is back in the country and is expected to start training with the Naturena-based Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday morning.

According to a Soccer-Laduma source close to the Bafana Bafana defender, Gaxa arrived in South Africa last Sunday, following the end of the Belgian season.

“Pa is back and he said he was going to train with Chiefs tomorrow (Wednesday) and hopefully finalise a deal with them before the end of the week. He wanted to ask SuperSport United if he could train with them, just to keep fit while he hasn’t finalised anything yet but Chiefs found out and stopped him in his tracks,” revealed an informant.

Soccer-Laduma caught up with one of the Chiefs players who, on condition of anonymity, confirmed the news. “I heard Pa is joining us at training soon but it hasn’t been made formal yet,” he explained.

After his acrimonious departure from Sundowns, Gaxa hasn’t been enjoying his stay at Lierse SK despite enjoying regular game time at the club. According to one of the South African players based in Belgium, Gaxa will be allowed to leave the Belgian outfit as long as the club receives a fair offer.

“Pa wasn’t happy at all in Belgium, in fact he regretted the move because the club was nothing compared to what he was made to believe. That’s why he desperately wants a move back to the PSL,” explained the Belgian-based player.
