Gaxa staying put

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly exercised their option on full-back Siboniso Gaxa's contract by adding an extra year to his current deal.

The 30-year-old joined Amakhosi as a free agent, after he was released by Belgian top-flight club Lierse three seasons ago.

He has gone on to make the right-back position his own at the club, but it seems it has not been enough to convince the Soweto giants to make a longer commitment.

Gaxa is currently being pushed by duo Lorenzo Gordinho and Kgotso Moleko, who are currently getting a run with the reserve side in the Diski Challenge.

The KZN-born player made his breakthrough as a centre-back under Pitso Mosimane at SuperSport United and has also represented Mamelodi Sundowns during his 12-year career.

He was a member of the Bafana Bafana squad that played at the 2010 World Cup on homesoil.

AmaZulu will host league leaders Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday evening. The match gets underway at 19:30.
