Gaxa blow for Chiefs

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs have received a big blow ahead of the new PSL season following the news Bafana Bafana defender Siboniso Gaxa will be out for three weeks with a hamstring strain.

The right-back made his Amakhosi debut in the 4-1 MTN8 quarter-final defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend, but needed to be substituted just 10 minutes in after pulling up injured.

The news comes as a big setback to Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter, whose side take on AmaZulu in their Premiership opener on Saturday, followed by a re-match against the Brazilians on Wednesday evening.

However, the former Bafana boss is set to welcome back midfield maestro Siphiwe Tshabalala and defender Keegan Ritchie after the pair missed Sunday's cup humiliation due to injury and flu respectively.
