Cape Town - Platinum Stars coach Allan Freese praised his team's commitment after their commanding 3-0 Nedbank Cup win over The Magic FC at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

A brace for Eleazar Rodgers and a penalty from Vincent Khumalo saw the Premiership side safely through to the last 16 of the competition.

"I think it was a really good effort from the boys," Freese told KickOff.

"In the past I have been complaining about our failure to convert our scoring chances but I am happy that today it was different.

"The plan was to put them under pressure right from the start and I am happy that we showed a hunger to succeed and the kind of determination that you expect from players at this level of the game.

"We completely dominated them in the first half and this set us up for a victory. Hopefully, we can continue with this good form."

The match was played in soaring heat and Freese believes the weather could have played a factor in the result.

"Teams often struggle with the high temperatures here and perhaps this was a factor again today.

"I do not know, but I will not take anything away from the players. They all did well and we deserve to enjoy this victory," Freese added.
