'Forming a team is like building a house'

Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes that the club is strengthening the team in different positions.

According to Kaizer Chiefs website, Komphela says that building a team is equivalent to building a house.

“Forming a team is like building a house,” Komphela reacts.

“We lost the MTN8 final to Ajax Cape Town, but Camaldine Abraw and Edward Manqele showed us something after coming on.

“They added the bricks needed to further improve the house. We are strengthening the team in different positions.”

Komphela believes in order to get the best out of the players in a team is that the players sitting in the stands are also pushing to vie for a place in the starting XI.

“It is always nice to see a strong bench. We need a strong eleven in the field, seven strong players on the bench and we also need strong players sitting in the stands, who will be pushing the others.”

Legendary former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker remarked after the Platinum Stars win that he hadn’t seen Chiefs playing such good football as they do now for a while.

Komphela smiles upon hearing Barker’s comments. Remaining humble, the Amakhosi coach reacts: “We are creating a structure with tactical discipline in the team. However, within this, the players are free and flowing in their approach.”
