Forest boss wants Tshabalala

2011-07-07 11:24

Johannesburg - Siphiwe Tshabalala's manager is working round the clock to secure a deal for the Bafana Bafana player at Nottingham Forest, reports the Sowetan.

Following the arrival of new manager Steve McClaren at Nottingham Forest, the English Championship club have renewed their bid to sign winger Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Sowetan has learnt that McClaren, the former England manager, is keen to bring Tshabalala on board.

It will not be the first time that the gifted Tshabalala goes to West Bridgford after he attended trials at Forest in August last year while they were under manager Billy Davies.

Davies was fired on June 13 and replaced by McClaren.

Tshabalala could not be reached for comment on Wednesday but his business manager Jazzman Mahlakgane is working round the clock to secure a deal for the dreadlocked player at the England club.

"I can confirm that there are people who want Tshabalala to join their club in Europe in the new season but we are still awaiting an official letter to that effect from them," Mahlakgane said.

"Shabba belongs to Chiefs, so they will have to engage the club as the employer. We are not under pressure because we know that we will get something good abroad."

We have had some real strikers at Forest over the years ....Birtles,Francis, Collymore,Robertson,Withe etc could all hit the net at will. Not sure this twinkle toe dude fits the game plan at Forest though !! I hope I am wrong though and I wish him well in the Premiership 2012/13

      sello Kobe - 2011-07-07 14:45

Lump of coal you surely do not follow this game of football; Shabba is not a striker but a midfielder!!

      Lump of coal - 2011-07-07 14:56

Can you read the comment above and show me where I said he was a striker ???? I was merely bemoaning to myself that in days gone by Forest have bought "hit the net" footballers but lately they are showing interest in the likes of Shabba !!! Thats why I said he doesn't fit the game plan ..... if you have watched Forest over the last 5 years they have adopted a long ball approach with Earnshaw Tyson etc up front .....Next time I will use smaller words Sello !!!

      cmtha - 2011-07-07 15:04

forgive Sello he does not even know Nottingham forest..He only know Shabba.

      Shakes - 2011-07-07 15:16

We have had some real strikers at Forest over the years ....Birtles,Francis, Collymore,Robertson,Withe etc could all hit the net at will" with the sentence u used about you inferred that Shabba is in actuality a striker, stop trying to be clever and just admit it. You thot the guy is a striker, Sello mfana kuthi don't stress ova was the Lump of coal says. he knows the truth, as to what he meant with that statement. Bloody agent

      Lump of coal - 2011-07-07 15:32

Shakes ...... I was merely trying to voice my doubt as to whether Shabba will succeed at Forest where others of his ilk have failed. Consider McGovern, Lloyd, Mills and O'Neill .... all workers who succeeded at Forest where Franz Carr, Nigel Clough or even Bryan Roy did not. Hell these days you even get guys playing "wing back" but I was referring to old fashion hit the net footballers who fit the Forest mould. Sorta like trying to sign Messi for Bolton !!!!

      shew - 2011-07-07 16:26

John Robertson was a winger, just like shabba. so Lump of Coal makes sense in that regard. But Lump of Coal did say 'striker' so it is indeed confusing. Quick search tells me though that 'hit the net man' Robertson only scored 61 goals from 385 games in his first spell at the club. That is less than 1 goal in 6 games. I am quite sure shabba can hit the net more than that though Lump of Coal. But I do get your point about the type of game not being suited to shabba. If thats the way they are playing there is no way he will fit in.
