Cape Town - Zamalek head coach, Jesualdo Ferreira, has praised the Orlando Pirates fans for the atmosphere that they created in the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
The Sea Robbers lost the CAF Confederation Cup Game 2-1 in front of a packed crowed that Ferreira said reminded him of his days coaching in UEFA Champions League games.
"I felt that we were playing in a European Champions League clash because of the great atmosphere,” said Ferreira according to Orlando Pirates official website.
“The pitch and the fans were fantastic.”
The Portuguese manager has worked at Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto, three of his country’s biggest clubs.
His comments would appear to ratify Pirates’ decision to play their home game in Mpumalanga.
Both Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates have chosen to play outside of Soweto for their ‘home’ games in continental competitions in order to draw more fans.
