Fanteni rues Ajax CT slump

Johannesburg - Ajax Cape Town striker Thembinkosi Fanteni admits the side have been well below their best during the course of the current campaign.

The Urban Warriors, PSL runners-up last term, find themselves way down in the Premiership standings this term after claiming just 18 points from their opening 13 league matches.

The Cape Town outfit did manage to snatch victory in their most recent PSL outing against Bloemfontein Celtic, but 'Terror', as he is affectionately known in the Mother City, feels both himself and the club are on a downward spiral at the moment.

"I started the season well, but unfortunately I have gone through a bit of a slump. In fact I think most of the team has not been at their best - we have struggled to find our form and have not been playing anywhere near our full potential," the 27-year-old told the PSL's official website.

"But we are working hard to turn things around,. All of the players are determined to get back to form, and personally I have also worked very hard on my game.

"It was great for us to beat Celtic on Sunday - we needed that win to get some confidence back and hopefully we can build on that."
