Johannesburg - Free State Stars goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede believes his side lost to Orlando Pirates due to lack of focus in defence which resulted in a spectacular volley from Daine Klate over the weekend.

Stars lost 1-0 to the Soweto giants at the Orlando stadium on Saturday courtesy of Klate's second half strike, after connecting with a well taken cross by Patrick Phungwayo.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns shot stopper had a brilliant game for Ea Lla Koto on his debut which earned him a man of the match accolade but lamented his defence’s lack of consistency in the second half.
"The plans we had in mind didn’t work out," said Verbauwhede.
"One little mistake of losing concentration at the back we were punished.
"When you play against a team like Pirates, you need to put in an extra concentration otherwise they will punish you.
"And when they do that, you go home empty handed which is not good for the team.
"They like to play high balls and they are very good on counter attacks.
"100% concentration is needed when playing against them but hopefully we will do well and win against AmaZulu on Wednesday."
Free State Stars face struggling AmaZulu at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Wednesday. Kick-off is set for 18:00.
