Cape Town - Free State Stars and Bidvest Wits played to a goalless stalemate in their Absa Premiership match at Goble Park on Saturday afternoon.
Ea Lla Koto were the better side on the day as they kept Clever Boys goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs very busy, but Ernst Middendorp's side could not hit the back of the net.
The match got off to a lively start with both sides looking for the early advantage, but Wits had a slight upper hand in terms of ball possession.
However, Stars were the first to make a serious shot at goal when midfielder Danny Venter unleashed a long range effort which went wide of the Wits of goal.
The encounter began to open up after the 15th minute mark, but the two sides were struggling to create clear-cut opportunities.
Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs was called into action in the 26th minute when Katlego Mashego forced the former Ajax Cape Town into a fine save.
With five minutes left on the clock before the half-time break, Wits midfielder Papy Faty's attempt was blocked inside the Stars box.
Ea Lla Koto created more chances in the second-half. Josephs was forced to make a great save six minutes into the second-half pushing away Mrisho Ngasa's free-kick.
Ten minutes later, Stars substitute Moeketsi Sekola's snap shot from the left missed the upright, with Josephs well-beaten.
Wits substitute Kris Bright tried his luck from range in the 82nd minute, but Stars goalkeeper Dauoda Diakite was well-positioned to make a save.
Ultimately, the match ended 0-0 with the two sides sharing the spoils on the day.
