Eksteen sidelined through injury

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town’s latest exciting youngster Ziyaad Eksteen has suffered a broken bone in his foot and is set to miss the start of the season.

Eksteen spoke Ajax Cape Town's website about his injury and mentioned his disappointment at having to miss out on the Cape Town Cup, which sees Ajax host Sporting Lisbon, Crystal Palace and Supersport United.

“Pre-season has been going very well for myself as well as collectively as a group," said Eksteen.

“The first two weeks we mainly worked on getting into things again and getting the fitness levels up.

“Coach has been pushing us to try and regain full fitness as soon as possible.

“I got injured in a training match on Saturday and discovered that there’s a broken bone in my foot, after the results of the x-rays came back.

“I was really looking forward to pre-season and the Cape Town Cup, but unfortunately I won’t be part of that,” the 19-year-old said.

The club revealed that Eksteen will be out for six weeks which will see him miss the first PSL game of the season away to Bidvest Wits on August 8.
