Cape Town - Free State Stars have handed trials to Zimbabwean Liberty Chikoroma and Ghanaian midfielder, Mumuni Abubakar.
A source at Ea Lla Koto told Sport24 that the two players are currently undergoing trials with the team.
“The two players are here in our camp training with the team and no decision has been taken on them so far,” the source said.
“What I have learned is that Chikoroma is the one player that the technical team is focusing on because he is a defender and the team has a void in that department following the departure of Daniel Cardoso to Kaizer Chiefs.
Chikoroma plays for Buffaloes in his country and has been part of the Warriors squad playing the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Abubakar on the other hand was in the books of Mamelodi Sundowns having joined the club during the 2012/13 season, but struggled to break into Pitso Mosimane’s squad.
He was last season on loan at Black Leopards, but once again finds himself searching for a team.
Meanwhile, veteran midfielder, Benson Mhlongo, has stopped training with Stars with the club reluctant to add him to their squad due to his age.
