Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns development boss Ted Dumitru has hit out at Hristo Stoichkov after the Bulgarian quit the club.
Reports point to a growing frustration over Sundowns' failure to offer Stoichkov a new contract but Dumitru disputes this fact.
The 70-year-old told
Business Day that according to the terms of his contract, negotiations were only set to begin at the end of the month.
"I am also very much surprised by what he has done", Dumitru said.
"In fact, I am shocked. I heard that he was very upset that negotiations for a contract extension had not commenced. But I do not think that the club did anything wrong."
Stoichkov reportedly announced on national radio that he had quit his job before offering his resignation to the club.
