Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns are working hard to fill the huge gap in their defence left by the departure of former captain Alje Schut at the end of last season.
The Dutch center-back had a successful three-year spell with Sundowns during which they were crowned Premiership champions in the 2013/14 season, but has since returned to his native Holland.
Brazilians assistant coach Rhulani Mokoena conceded the hole Schut's departure left in the heart of their defence is a significant one and revealed they are working tirelessly to find a solution.
"We're working behind the scenes," he told KickOff. "It's quiet for you the media, but I can assure you that we're working 24/7 across the globe.
"We're looking in Belgium, Brazil, Holland and Spain for a suitable replacement for Alje.
"It's a gap we have and everyone is aware of it and we can't hide it."
Despite looking far and wide for Schut's successor, Mokoena suggested the solution could come from the club's youth development program.
