Cape Town - Looking to keep up the pace at the top of the PSL, Mamelodi Sundowns will not be able to rely on the services of captain Alje Schut for the clash against Free State Stars.
Schut is still recovering from a knee injury, according to KickOff.com, and appears some way off a return to competitive action.
Joining the 33-year-old on the sidelines for Saturday's clash is Rheece Evans (groin) and Flavio Bento (knee).
The Schut injury news only gets worse for the Brazilians as Sundowns communications coordinator Thulani Thuswa confirmed that the defender has not yet return to squad training. suffered a freak accident at home two weeks ago which left him needing twelve stitches. Schut hasn’t played a match since suffering an ankle injury against Orlando Pirates on 27 August.
“Schut hasn’t even started training with other players, he is certainly out for this weekend,” said Thuswa.
Sundowns fans can breathe easier after it was confirmed that star duo Khama Billiat and Teko Modise have been declared fit for the game.
Mamelodi Sundowns, who have moved up to fourth on the PSL table, host Free State Stars at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, on Saturday, at 20:15.
The visitors are currently 11th on the log but just four points behind their hosts.
