‘Downs’ new striker turned down Ajax

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns’ new striker, Abdul Razak Fiston, recently signed with ‘The Brazilians’ on a three-year deal after previously turning down a trial session with Ajax Cape Town amongst other offers he had.

He had joined Kenyan club Sofapaka instead of going on trial at Ajax after the chairman constantly made contact with him, having showcased his abilities at CHAN with his national team.

“When I finished playing at CHAN with Burundi, Ajax Cape Town asked me for a trial but I asked myself why should I go for a trial there when they saw me at CHAN? I didn’t want that.

“I also had other offers like from Gor Mahia and one Zambian club but I choose Sofapaka because the chairman called every day asking me to join them and that’s why I was interested to play for them,” he told Sport24.

Signing with Sundowns has proven to be his final choice as he hopes to achieve many great things as an individual and with the team, as he appears to have a vision for what he wants come each season.
