'Downs back at work, no new faces

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns were the last Premier Soccer League side return for pre-season training but were back at work on Tuesday at their Chloorkop base.

The Nedbank Cup holders had an extended holiday and now have a little over a month to prepare for their first game of the season against Maritzburg United in the MTN8 quarter-finals on either August 4 or 5.

The players had medical tests to ascertain their fitness levels having been given individual programmes to work on during the time off.

The club have confirmed that there were no new signings who have joined the group, with only their sizeable loan contingent from last season returning to bolster the numbers.

Coach Pitso Mosimane will be taking the side into camp, including a trip to Namibia for the second successive year, with those details to be announced later.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
