Johannesburg - The Premier Soccer League has summonsed Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates to face the league’s disciplinary committee on the 24th of February 2011 at the PSL offices in Parktown.
Sundowns' case will be heard first as the club has been charged for spectator misbehavior and for bringing the league into disrepute. The charges relate to an incident which took place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on January 30 in the league fixture between Sundowns and Platinum Stars.
Downs' supporters acted in an unsporting manner after the game, throwing stones at police officers which forced the police to try and neutralise the crowd by firing rubber bullets and using gas canisters.
Pirates’ case is scheduled to be heard a half-an-hour after Sundowns, at 18:00, after the Soweto club was charged with spectator misbehavior and bringing the league into disrepute, as in Sundowns’ case.
The case is related to an incident which occurred on January 19 at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban after the league fixture between Golden Arrows and Pirates. Bucs’ fans acted in a disorderly manner after the game, throwing porridge on the match officials.
