Dladla cleared for Chiefs

Johannesburg - Premier Soccer League (PSL) sides Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs have reached an agreement that will see midfielder Josta Dladla join Amakhosi during this transfer period.

Dladla, who still had six months left on his Sundowns contract, signed a pre-contract with Chiefs and this immediately put doubts on his position at Downs. However, the two clubs managed to come to an agreement after Chiefs agreed to sell Thuso Phala to their rivals, according to Chiefs chairperson Kaizer Motaung.

“Whilst we are gearing ourselves for league honours, another battle for players’ signatures is about to end when the window period closes this weekend. We have comfortably secured Jeffery Ntuka, our well-travelled member who made his name in Europe very early in his soccer career. He joins our family to reinforce our arsenal.

“We are also happy to welcome Josta Dladla into the family after a smooth transfer process that involved Thuso Phala.. Sundowns were also kind to release Josta before the end of the season; something that we really appreciate. May I wish Thuso Phala the best at Sundowns and openly stretch my arms and that of our supporters to Josta who I believe, would add more fire power up front,” said Motaung in his weekly column on the club’s official website.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports have suggested that Sundowns winger Dillon Sheppard, who have signed a pre-contract with Platinum Stars, will also be allowed to join his new now immediately as opposed to waiting until July.

Sundowns are also reported to be in talks with Thanda Royal Zulu over the possibility of taking Lerato Chabangu on loan until the end of the season. Chabangu has signed a pre-contract with Sundowns fierce rivals Supersport United and the two clubs could not reach an agreement on taking the player earlier.
