Allan Freese’s side have gone four league matches without a win after playing to a goalless draw at home to University of Pretoria on the weekend.
Stars are the reigning Telkom Knockout champions, having overcome Maritzburg United, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to win the 2013 edition.
The Rustenburg team has played 15 Telkom Knockout matches since the tournament’s inception in 2006, recording eight wins, three draws and four defeats. They have won one of the three penalty shootouts they have been involved in.
Dikwena’s best showing in the Telkom Knockout era is winning the tournament in 2006 and 2013.
In League Cup history, Stars also reached the final in 2003 but were beaten 2-0 by Kaizer Chiefs. At that stage they were still known as Silver Stars.
Chilli Boys come into the match in hot form, having claimed a second straight league win with a surprise 1-0 defeat of Orlando Pirates on the weekend.
Chippa have only competed in the Telkom Knockout once before. In the 2012 edition, they were eliminated in the first round by eventual champions Bloemfontein Celtic.
The two sides have never met in an official cup match before but Saturday's opponents have, however, clashed in three league matches. The Chilli Boys enjoy an unbeaten record against Dikwena, with two victories and one draw from their three matches.
Stars’ only previous home match against Chippa was a 1-1 draw in the second half of the 2012/13 season.
The teams have met once already this season, with the Eastern Cape-based side claiming a 2-0 home win on the opening weekend of the league campaign.
Kick-off is at 15:00 on Saturday, October 4.
