Dikwena back coach Freese

Rustenburg - Following their poor start to the 2014/15 Absa Premiership season, Platinum Stars manager Senzo Mazingiza says head coach Allan Freese is not under any sort of pressure with the club management.

Stars' poor start includes failing to defend their MTN8 title after losing 5-0 on aggregate to Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-finals.

Mazingiza told Sport24 in an exclusive interview that despite speculations linking Freese with an exit from the North West Tycoons, the club still have faith in their mentor and he has the support he needs from management.

“No we didn’t start bad this season compared to the last one.”

“If you check the log table, we are on a better position than we were last season at this time.

“Our coach‘s job is not in jeopardy at all.

“I know you media guys love to exaggerate and I don’t know where those rumours are coming from.

“Why would we think of firing a coach who won the cup double with us last season?

“We gave Allan (Freese) a four year contract last season.

“I don’t see any reason why we should think of showing him the door.

“Allan Freese is a good coach and he remains our coach that is it.”

Stars are currently on the ninth place on the log and they will be hoping to return to their winning ways when they face SuperSport United on September 13.
