Brand De Villiers is expected to be appointed as the Premier Soccer League’s new Chief Exectuive Officer (CEO) later today, with the announcement expected to made at the league’s headquarters in Parktown.
The PSL will be hosting the official draw for the 2013/14 Absa Premiership fixtures today, which is expected to coincide with De Villiers’s appointment.
Cambridge Mokanyane has been the league’s acting CEO since Stanley Matthews’ exit from the position last year, with De Villiers now set to take on the high-profile role on a permanent basis.
De Villiers, expected outgoing Chairman of SAIL, comes highly recommended. In 1995 he joined Vodacom as Head of Expenditure, before aiding to establish Vodacom Sport and Entertainment in 1998. He was later made Managing Director of the company, following SAIL Group's acquisition of the company.
Although, the PSL has not officially confirmed the news, a high ranking Soccer-Laduma source has indicated that De Villiers will take up the role of PSL CEO.
