Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa says that they knew it was going to be a challenge playing against Bidvest Wits in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-final clash.
De Sa said at the press conference after the match that Wits are a very physical team who were going to use their long balls against them, but is glad they managed to cope well through the ordeal.
“It was going to be a challenge playing against Wits you know; despite the weather conditions that made the pitch difficult to play in,” De Sa said.
“They were always going to play long balls and use their physicality to beat us with that. I thought we coped well with it nonetheless.
“I think the young boys, Mobara and Rivaldo played very well.
“We couldn’t really play too much because of the weather conditions but disappointed we conceded, but I am happy we went out there to make the best out of it.
“Nxumalo was feeling isolated most of the time as we wanted Bantu and Riyaad to be a little closer to him but we ended up becoming stretched out a bit.
“We should have actually scored about 3 goals when Cale came in but the conditions didn’t work out a bit for us.
“Our man was sent off the bench and we were disappointed in the way the linesman and ref reacted but you know we should be used to it by now.
“We will have to do better when we meet them next and see to it that we make a better comeback."
The Urban Warriors managed a 1-1 draw against the Clever Boys in the MTN8 semi-final clash at Coetzenburg stadium.
