De Sa admits frustration

Orlando Pirates head coach Roger de Sa says he was left disappointed after his team was held to a 1-1 draw at AmaZulu on Wednesday.

According to the soccerladuma.co.za website, Collins Mbesuma netted early for the Buccaneers, but a Goodman Dlamini equaliser ensured a share of the points.

“Obviously I’m disappointed. We had a couple of chances to bury the game and we didn’t,” said De Sa.

“It was always dangerous letting them come at us, but we should have put the ball away. Our basics were poor in the final third, but at least everyone gave it a full go, so I can’t fault them for that.

“We should have won, we did enough to win and there were of course unforced errors. But when it doesn’t go your way you have to just knuckle down and keep working.”

De Sa admitted that the depth in his squad has been tested as injuries to key players has had a major effect on the season.

“There is a lot of fatigue setting in. We have a lot of guys out with injuries so we’re relying on a lot of the same faces week in and week out, but we’re trying to rest in between,” he added.

“We must just keep focusing and do our best to win our games. That’s all we can do.”
