De Sa: MTN8 still long way off

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa says that despite their slender lead, the MTN8 tie between Bucs and Kaizer Chiefs still has a long way to go before it is decided.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, this comes after the Buccaneers beat Amakhosi 1-0 in the first leg at FNB Stadium this past weekend, to take a 1-0 aggregate lead going into the second leg on September 24.

“We have won the tie yet, so we need to go into the second leg game thinking that the game is still at 0-0, because if we go into that game thinking about protecting our lead, then we might end up losing the match. It’s really important for us to go for a win in the second leg,” De Sa told the Siya crew.

De Sa said he was pleased with his team’s first half performance in the match against Chiefs.

“I think we started the game well and we played well in the first half. We let them come back into the game in the second half and we shouldn’t have done that. We need to play well from start to finish if we’re to beat Chiefs in the second leg,” added De Sa.

The second leg of the MTN8 between the Chiefs and Pirates is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 24. The winner of this tie will play against against the victors of the second semi-final, between Wits and Platinum Stars.
