De Sa: 'Downs better than Chiefs

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa believes Mamelodi Sundowns should be considered Premiership title favourites, claiming they are a better side than defending champions Kaizer Chiefs.

The Urban Warriors face a daunting schedule this week as the take on both the Brazilians and AmaKhosi in the space of three days as Premiership action resumes.

However, De Sa's side already dispatched Chiefs in the MTN8 final on Saturday, September 23 while they head into the midweek round of fixtures as league leaders, but the Mozambique tactician feels it is Sundowns who are more likely to emerge as champions this term.

"We're coming up against two top teams - Sundowns obviously have great expectations and ambitions, and straight after that Chiefs, who probably have a lot of revenge on their minds," he said.

"It's two games soon after the Final, within seven games, makes it very difficult."

He added: "I think Sundowns are individually a better team than Chiefs.

"They're a team that's struggling a bit and want to achieve a bit more than what they have, and probably see a fantastic opportunity [against Ajax] to get their show on the road.

"Individually their players are fantastic. It hasn't gone their way and they've had a few not-so-good results, but I still think they will finish top of the League.

"They have immense quality and depth, and their home turf is a difficult place to go to, so it'll be very, very tough.

"For us, we just have to show that it was no fluke with this trophy."
