Da Gama leaves Stars
Johannesburg - Platinum Stars have parted ways with coach Owen Da Gama, despite finding him not guilty of the allegations that were brought against him.
Dikwena suspended Da Gama recently after it was claimed that he was taking bribes in return for game time in his starting 11, however the club has now revealed that he has not been found guilty.
In a statement released by the club, Stars praised Da Gama for the way in which he handled the situation, they said, “Stars wish to thank Owen for his contribution to the club and for the manner in which he dealt with an issue which recently arose in the media and led to an investigation at the club.
“The allegation suggested that Owen had been party to fraudulent conduct in respect of players. Platinum Stars are satisfied that Owen is not guilty of this and it is necessary to say that his conduct during this investigation, which was trying and difficult, was exemplary.
“After a full independent investigation into the allegation, the club has concluded that there is no basis for the allegation that was made against Owen reported in the media.”
It is thought that Cavin Johnson and Allan Freese will remain in charge of the club until the end of the season, where after Dikwena will plan for the 2012/13 campaign.
