Cup victory will ease the pressure

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela insists that retaining the MTN8 Cup will take the pressure off everyone.

Amakhosi will continue their title defence when they make the trip to the Free State for the first-leg of their semi-final encounter this weekend, having progressed with a thrilling 5-3 extra-time win over Maritzburg United.

And Komphela, who took over the Chiefs reins from Stuart Baxter in June, has since revealed his game-plan for the two-legged tie.

"We take it as one game. First half in Bloem and second half in Johannesburg," he said during Thursday's pre-match press conference.

"Winning the MTN8 will take the pressure off everyone.

When asked what will inspire the team to victory, he said: "Our motivation is simple: we have to win it because we are the defending champions."
