According to African Football website, the 32-year-old was reportedly linked with a move to Orlando Pirates.

Following the sale of Siyabonga Mpontshane to the Buccaneers, it opened up the gate for Coundoul to pen a deal with Dikwena which was finalised on Wednesday evening.

"It is a privilege for me to have signed with Platinum Stars, and looking around I see professionalism," said the former New York Redbull ‘keeper.

"The team is run with professionalism, the staff members were welcoming and the environment is so friendly.

"I was shocked to see the facilities, and was so chuffed. This is like Europe, I tell you. The quality of the facilities is out of this world."

It has been revealed that the club is currently working on getting the player a work permit.

Coundoul will get a chance to don the colours of Dikwena when they travel to the Free State to take on Bloemfontein Celtic in a PSL encounter.

The match is scheduled for Sunday, March 1 at the Free State Stadium.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
