Cosmos stay bottom of log

Johannesburg - Ajax Cape Town beat tail-enders Jomo Cosmos 1-0 in their Absa Premiership game at the Rand Stadium on Wednesday night.

The visitors led 1-0 at the break, thanks to a beautiful header from prolific goalscorer Diyo Sibisi, who received a split crosspass four minutes before the break and beat the Cosmos goalkeeper Avril Phali hands down.

Cosmos came back strongly in the second half, trying to snatch an equaliser, but failed to crack the Ajax defence.

As was the case in the first half, Ezenkosi's strikers continued to fire blanks instead of scoring.

The clock is ticking for Cosmos, who need to move up the the ladder soon, or they will find themselves relegated to the First Division once again.

From 14 games so far this season, they have only managed one win, six draws and seven losses. They have only collected nine points and are at the bottom of the log.

On the other hand, the Urban Warriors have achieved seven wins, four draws and three losses and have accumulated 25 points, putting them in second place, behind Supersport United.
