Coetzee relishing CAF adventure

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town defender Rivaldo Coetzee is looking forward to gaining some valuable experience in the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup campaign.

The highly-rated youngster rose to prominence last year after producing a series of mature displays for the Urban Warriors, which led to his first call up to the Bafana Bafana squad.

Coetzee has now set his sights on further improving his game after declaring himself happy with the progress made in the previous season.

"Obviously one is always looking to get better than they were yesterday, so for me it was only my first full season and I am quite satisfied with what I have achieved," he told Football411.

"Especially for a team like Ajax, we came from a tough season, the season before last [2013/14]. We were almost relegated and for us to bounce back like that and finish fifth, with a young team like ours, is such a confidence booster.

"So, for me personally, going into the next season, I'm looking to do better than I did last season and I believe the club will also want to improve from last season.

"But by the way pre-season is going, I think we will have another great season.

"Also, we've got more competitions to play this season and, for me, Africa is always difficult. I am looking forward to gaining more experience from playing in the CAF Confederations Cup.

"It's going to be tough but overall a worthwhile experience for our young team."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
